In the event of the existing records being exceeded by more that one athlete on the same day the prize will be awarded to the new ground record holder at the end of the competition. The special prize if won will be presented by the 18 times Scottish Champion, Bill Anderson, who has kindly agreed to attend the Dornoch Games this year along with his wife Frances as special guests. The Dornoch Heavies Judge, Stan Wilson used to compete in the local sections at Dornoch around the time that Bill and Arthur Rowe were competing in the Open events. Willie MacKay President of Dornoch Highland Gathering says "Stan's proposal to invite Bill and arrange funding for these special record prizes was unanimously supported by the Committee at our AGM. The games this year will have an added buzz to it with Bill attending. Bill still commands tremendous respect in the games circuit. As far back as 1977 he was awarded the OBE and more recently, in 2007 Bill was inducted into the Scottish Hall of Fame"
Bill's Hammer records at Dornoch still stand at 141ft 9ins for light hammer set in 1968 and 116ft 8ins for heavy hammer set in 1969.
